Airsoft Gear Do's & Don'ts

JP • 13 August 2020

Just a few things about your airsoft gear.

Do's, Don'ts and Tips

Below are some Quick tips & info  for when you start airsoft. These are written so anyone can understand. We will add more to this, so check back regularly.

  • Only use silicone oil and Silicone grease on your airsoft replicas.

  • Don't over wind mags, play it safe on give it about 15 winds

  • You shouldn't need to have your hop up turned on full. if you do then there's an problem with it.

  • The Batteries and charger that often come with guns in the box are usually 1100 to 1200 mAh and the charger is a 250 to 300 mAh charger. Divide the charger mAh in to the battery to get the charging time. 1200 divided by 300 give 4 Hours charge.Do not leave it plugged in overnight. Plug it into a timer if you think you may forget and set the charge time.

  • The  battery that came with your gun ( if its the 1000 to 1200 mAh)  will not last all day gaming, and is for when you get the gun you can do some shooting. It is not going to last with regular repeat use and the charger is very slow. On average most players only need a 1600mAh battery. Make sure your get a good brand, and a Smart charger , which will detect the level left in the battery and charge it, when full it stops charging. standard chargers that you get with your gun do not do this.
  • Your rifle is not a walking stick or a seat. never put the muzzle into the ground or water. blocking the barrel will cause internal problem as the bbs and air can not get out.
  • Boots are very important and you should have them from your first day. High boots, tied up properly to the top. this gives support and helps reduce injury.
  • before you go to a skirmish site look up there website and check out there site rules. some sites will have different rules, like lower face mask must be worn, or rules on grenades, head shots etc. There is a briefing at the start of the day that explains this but look at them first yourself so you know before going.
  • being great  on  shooter games etc, does not mean anything when it comes to playing on an airsoft field.
  • After a days gaming, clean your airsoft replicas, silicone oil on your pistols, and wipe down your AEG, and don't forget to clean the barrels.
  • Don't wear bright coloured clothing.... you will be a target. Dark colours or brown and greens. You don't have to buy new camo to play, take your time building your gear. check out what brands and camo patterns work best where you play.
  • Don't be a Rambo and jump out from cover firing off a whole mag ( know as the 300 round burst) you will be hit within seconds. The good guys never get hit in the films or need to reload, well most of the time. Be tactical, give the smallest target to the enemy as possible.
  • Remember the "Blind Fire". this is common with new players. Don't stick your gun up over cover, out to the side or through small holes and just fire, you must be looking down your gun when firing.

Hi Guys Doug here from Gambits Custom Airsoft Not so long back, i picked up an Evolution Carbontech Combat Series EC21AR Recon S 10" from Waterford Airsoft Supplies for a tidy sum €200, and i must say im quite impressed. More than quite. I'm VERY impressed. There are many replicas that perform well out of the box, but i'm liking this one. I really am liking this one! So there is an unboxing video, and between a rather slow editing programme, and an even slower editor (me), that's going to come after this post at some point in a long to be forgotten future...fine....soon....ish... There is also a bit of footage of me gaming with it, scoring some epic kills, and potentially causing some massive head trauma to myself, but i'll refer you back to the start of this paragraph. The clip is quite funny, i may post that separately. Anyway... In a nutshell, out if the box, this replica is lightweight. Compared to a G&G Firehawk light weight i mean, and that's light as well as short. Stock and receivers are made of a durable polymer, and it is strong. Over the last month iv gamed, dropped, and even thrown (don't ask) this replica, and its stood up to abuse. The keymod rail *feels* like aluminium but if its polymer its damn strong! Overall, this is one solid built and sturdy AEG! For the price, your getting the equivalent of a G&G, ICS, and Specna Arms. Hell, as much as i detest Ares, the externals are good and the Evolution's are more than a challenge to them too. There are no creaks or rattles from this replica!
